FCS 5 week of 9/14

Starting this week for the remainder of the non-conference season I will pick 8 FCS teams that I believe are best suited to defeat their FBS opponents.

1-Bethune Cookman (FIU) The Wildcats out of the MEAC are fresh off a 66-7 victory over Virginia Union and average 8.0 points allowed per game. This stat has a solid chance to continue to stay low against the worst offense in the FBS (5.0ppg). They rank 114th in passing and 121nd in offense and on the other side of the ball they are allowing 40.5ppg. I'll take the Wildcats by 10.

2-Fordham (Temple) The Rams have scored an average of 39ppg over their first two with wins over two ranked FCS foes. The Temple Owls on the other hand rank 122nd (of 126) in the FBS in scoring at 9.5 points per game. Don't be surprised to see the offense struggle enough for the upset to occur.

3-Eastern Washington (Toledo) The Eagles already have won a game on the road against Oregon State this year and will take on a Toledo team who has opened with 2 losses vs SEC teams (Florida/Mizzu).

4-Cal Poly (Colorado St) Last week the Mustangs put up a valiant effort before losing 41-25 against the Fresno State Bulldogs(a very good potential BCS buster). They actually out gained the Bulldogs but two punt return touchdowns were the difference. The Rams have shown defensive struggles in their first two and one was against the lowly Colorado Buffaloes(no stab I love the Buffs). I'd take the Mustangs in this one.

5-Youngstown State(Michigan State) Last week the Penguins had 718 yards of offense (a perfectly even 359 rushing and passing) in a 67-13 win over Morehead State. This offense will not be near duplicated again Michigan State's top rated defense led by Shilique Calhoun, however they get thrown on this list for the Spartans offensive struggles. If they win it'll be a low scoring battle, perhaps 3-0 or 14-10.
